EPC Contracts may be of different categories:
• EPC Contractor – Engineering Procurement and Construction. The contractor basically has full responsibility of both the process and purchases.
• EPCM – Engineering, Procurement & Construction Management. The firm of Engineering Consultants or Contractors work together with the client. The owner approves all processes and purchases; therefore, the responsibility of construction lies primarily with the owner.
• EPC Lump Sum (EPC LS) • EPC Lump Sum Turn Key (EPC LSTK)

Frequently, in order to reach a Lump Sum Turn Key (LSTK) contract is necessary to define a
scope with technical documents developed by the engineering and construction areas. In these
cases Forta Ingenieria proposes to start off with an Open Book Estimate (OBE) contract covering
three stages:
- Engineering Work Authorization (EWA): It is a preliminary stage of technical advice used
to define the total scope of the project with the client including possible eventualities
and risks. At this point the hourly cost of engineering at each required stage is agreed. - Front End Engineering Design (FEED): This is a stage of the project to develop the
schematic Engineering - Open Book Cost Estimate (OBCE): At this stage, detailed engineering and construction
cost are developed.
